Brailsford Solar Park

Clean energy, powered with purpose

British Solar Renewables is proposing to develop a Solar Park on an area of land located off Main Road, Brailsford, Ashbourne, DE6 3DA.

We are currently in the early design development stages of our proposals, and we are undertaking extensive surveying and planning work. The proposed solar park will generate enough clean, renewable energy to power around 18,700 homes every year, helping to save approximately 26,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually.

This project will play an important role in boosting renewable energy generation in Derbyshire, improving energy security, and supporting both local and national targets to reduce carbon emissions. It will make a significant contribution towards the Council’s goal of a cleaner, more sustainable energy future, while also supporting the UK’s national renewable energy and carbon reduction targets.

Why do we need Solar Parks?

The cost of living crisis, which has seen the UK population faced with soaring energy prices and concerns surrounding our energy security, means it is more vital than ever to ensure communities have access to locally sourced, clean, green, and reliable energy production. Achieving true energy independence is essential to protecting the UK’s economic stability and national resilience.

By expanding the UK’s domestic energy generation, we can reduce exposure to global market volatility, ensuring that Britain’s energy future is determined by Britain. Investing in homegrown, renewable power not only supports the transition to a low-carbon economy but also safeguards the nation against geopolitical pressures and uncertainty.

Solar power is a key part of the Government’s Net-Zero target, with the Government aiming to more than triple solar power capacity in the UK by 2030, as solar power is the lowest-cost and quickest to deploy of all energy sources. To help the government reach their net-zero target, there must be a collaborative approach to energy infrastructure, with larger-scale solar parks accompanying solar panels on the rooftops of industrial and residential buildings.

BSR is committed to speaking with the community at the earliest possible opportunity, which will allow us to fully consider the feedback received from those who know the area best. Interactive Feedback Map

Please click where you live on this feedback map and fill in the pop-up form to submit your comment. This will enable us to directly understand the location of any concerns you may have with this proposal.

Site Location

Our proposed solar park would sit on land at Main Road, Brailsford, Ashbourne DE6 3DA.

The key driver influencing the location of a solar park is the location of a ‘point of connection’ to the National Grid. This allows the generated energy to be exported to the National Grid to meet energy demand across the UK. For this particular land, capacity was identified at the local substation, and a point of connection was identified within the site.

An alternative site selection report will also be submitted with the application, providing further context and justification for the chosen location.

Public Consultation Event

Collaboration is at the intersection between communities and developers. That’s why we listen to the communities’ issues and amend site proposals according to concerns raised at consultation.

We will be holding a consultation event in Brailsford on the 4th of December 2025, from 2:45 pm-6:45 pm, to hear residents’ feedback on the site and to learn how our community benefit fund could be utilised in the local community.
